How Time in Status & Time With Assignee tables are calculated?

The Time in Status and Time With Assignee tables are the part of Jira Work Management.

We will explain the calculation concept on the example of the Time in Status table. However, the same logic is applied to the Time With Assignee table.

The Time in Status and Time With Assignee tables include three fields that differ in duration calculation. These fields are the following:

  • Duration in 24/7

  • Duration in Business Days (24/5)

  • Duration in Business Hours/Days (8/5)

By day in this context, we mean 24 hours.

By Business Days in this context, we mean the period from Monday to Friday.

By Business Hours in this context, we mean 8 hours per day.

Duration in 24/7

Time in Status is calculated considering 24 hours per day and 7 days per week.

For example, if you move an issue to status A on Friday at 9AM, and then change it to status B on Monday at 9AM, the app will count the duration in status A as 72 hours.

15 hours during Friday, 24 hours during Saturday, 24 hour during Sunday, and 9 hours during Monday, 15+24+24+9=72.

Duration in Business Days (24/5)

Time in Status is calculated considering 24 hours per day and 5 days per week. The default weekends - Saturday and Sunday - are not considered.

Duration in Business Days/Hours (8/5)

Time in Status is calculated considering only business hours (regularly, these are 8 hours per day) and only business days (regularly, Mon - Fri).

At the present moment, BiQuery Connector doesn’t have settings that allow you to configure certain business hours, that’s why it counts 8 hours per day maximum.
