Schedule Refresh on Tableau Cloud

The workbook can be published and refreshed either from the Tableau Desktop or from the Tableau Cloud.

 

From Tableau Desktop

 

  1. Open your Tableau Desktop/Public, select or create the workbook you want to refresh, select Server, and then select Publish Workbook.

 

  1. Select Tableau Cloud.

 

  1. Sign in to your Tableau Cloud.

  1. In the Location field, select location where you’d like to publish the workbook.

  2. In the Name field, provide name of your workbook.

  3. [Optional] In the Description field, provide description for your workbook.

  4. Under the Data Source section, select Edit.

  1. In the Publish Type field, select Embedded in workbook.

  2. In the Authentication field, select Allow refresh access.

  3. Select Publish.

You will be automatically redirected to your Tableau Cloud.

 

  1. Select Schedule data refresh.

 

  1. Configure all required fields, and then select Create.

From Tableau Cloud

 

  1. Sign in to Tableau Cloud with your credentials.

  1. Select or create the workbook you want to refresh, and then select Publish As….

  1. In the Name field, provide name of your workbook.

  2. In the Location field, select location where you’d like to publish the workbook.

  3. Check the Embed password for data source box.

  4. Select Publish.

 

  1. Select Explore.

  1. Select the project where you have published your workbook.

  1. Select workbook you want to refresh.

  1. Select Extract Refreshes, and then select New Extract Refresh.

  1. Configure all required fields, and then select Create.
