Since definitely, not all users should have the permission to export Jira data, Jira Cloud Administrators can grant the permissions to work with the Power BI Connector for Jira Cloud for certain users or groups of users.

Instructions below show how to grant the permissions to work with the connector (ability to create, edit, watch and export connectors).

Please note that users with the Administrator role have the permissions to work with the connector by default.

How to Enable Power BI Connector for Jira and Grant Permission to Jira Users

In Jira primary navigation menu click Apps and find Power BI Connector for Jira in your app list.

Select Administration from the left-side navigation menu.

At the Power BI Connector for Jira Settings page click the Edit icon.

In the Edit permissions window click the Users field and start to type the username you want to grant permissions to work with the connector. Select the user from the list. You can select as many individual users as you need.

In the Edit permissions window click the Groups field and select groups from the available groups in the list. You can select as many groups as you need.

To save the permissions click the Save button.

How to Check User Permissions to Work with Power BI Connector for Jira

If you wish to check which Jira users and/or groups have granted permission to use the application, go to Apps → select Power BI Connector for Jira → click on the Administration tab on the left.

How to View the Data Sources History

Go to Administration → select Data Sources History. It displays all changes performed to the data sources by all users, such as creating, editing the fields or filters, sharing, changing owner, etc.

How to View the Export History

Go to Administration → select Export History. It displays all data related to the export process: ID, User name, Data source id, Tables count, Rows count etc. Also to filters by Statuses and Dates can help to find specific data.

Configure Tokens to Export Add-Ons Data

Power BI Connector for Jira supports exporting data from the leading marketplace add-ons. You can check the complete list of apps on the Supported Add-Ons page.

To be able to include Jira app data in your export to Power BI, Jira users need to configure each add-on separately.

IP Whitelisting

Here are the current instances IP addresses of Power BI Connector for Jira application. Please add these IPs to your IP allowlisting:

Default region (Oregon): 35.161.7.18, 35.85.205.110
EU: 52.211.33.183, 54.77.134.91
DE: 18.184.153.1, 54.93.142.16
AU: 52.63.173.131, 54.253.130.102
SG: 18.138.139.163, 18.139.93.202

IP allowlisting gives you an additional level of control, allowing you to specify which IP addresses users must use to access content for Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence. When you set an allowlist for Jira Software Premium, it applies to customer and agent-facing portals for your Jira Service Management on the same site.

To view your IP allowlists:

  1. Go to admin.atlassian.com. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Security > IP allowlisting.

You will be able to access admin.atlassian.com even if the IP is outside the range of the allowlist.
