Web Data Connector: Schedule Refresh on Tableau Cloud

To set up and refresh published extracts on a schedule you should use Tableau Bridge to keep data fresh.

Tableau Bridge works together with Tableau Cloud to ensure the timely updates of Web Data Connectors that are not directly accessible by Tableau Cloud.

 

  1. Go to the Tableau Bridge Downloads and Release Notes page, and then download the current version.

  1. Install the Tableau Bridge on your computer by executing the downloaded file.

Please follow the simple installer instructions to complete the installation. For more information, please refer to the Tableau Cloud Help article Install Bridge.

  1. After the Tableau Bridge has been installed, sign in to the Tableau Bridge with your Tableau Cloud credentials

  1. Prepare the Workbook you'd like to publish to Tableau Cloud.

  2. Select Server, and then select Publish Workbook.

 

  1. Select Tableau Cloud to connect.

It will open Sign in window. Sign in with your Tableau Cloud credentials.

  1. Select the Project where you’d like to publish the workbook.

  2. Provide the name of your workbook.

  3. [Optional] Provide a description for your workbook.

  4. Under the Data Sources section, select Edit.

  5. In the Publish Type field, select Published separately.

  6. In the Authentication field, select Embedded password.

  7. Select Publish.

  1. Select Explore, select the project where you have published your workbook, and then select Extract.

 

  1. Select Extract ellipsis, and select Schedule with Bridge (Legacy).

 

 

  1. Select a computer on your network where a Bridge client is installed and you’re signed in.

  2. Configure the refresh schedule, and then select Create.

 

  1. Open the Windows system tray, and then select the Bridge icon to open the client.

  2. Point to the data source, and then select the Edit icon.

  3. In the dialog box, enter the Tableau Connector credentials for your shop that are required for accessing the data, and then click Save.
