3 steps to export data

Users with Administer Jira permissions always have access to app configurations.

Open the

An access token is a security credential used in web applications to authorize and authenticate a user or application’s access to specific resources or data.

We will use an access token as a password for SAP Analytics Cloud to securely transfer data.

You can create your token by accessing SAP Analytics Cloud Connector for

Jira app and navigate to the Tokens section.

Make sure you’re at the Access Token tab.

Click on the "Create new token" button.

4. Enter a label that is short, memorable, and easy for you to remember.

5. Click the "Create" button to generate the Access Token.

6. Copy the Access Token that is generated. Please note that you won't be able to see the Access Token again once you leave this page.

7. You can create up to 25 Access Tokens and revoke the ones you don’t need anymore.

2. Description - Enter data source description

3. Share settings - You may share this data source with users or groups of users who have permission to use the application. To share the data souce click Share settings button.

Please note! Other users who have access to SAP Analytics Cloud Connector for Jira app might not get all data from this data source due to different Jira permissions.

Filter issues section

This section is suitable for applying the filter groups which are presented in the screenshot:

4. All - choose if you want to export all existing issues.

5. Select by JQL - choose if you want to use JQL to create your own request and filter data.

JQL, or Jira Query Language, is a flexible tool that allows you to search for issues, projects, etc in Jira and pinpoint exactly what you are looking for. 

Enter the JQL expression and click Validate JQL button to validate it.

Please note! Without JQL validation you won’t be able to create data source (button Save will be disabled).

6. Basic - choose if you want to use standard fields filters. To set up Basic filter click Issue filter button.

Select issue filters from the list of available:

• Projects

• Issue Types

• Statuses

Also you are able to select from the list the time intervals in which the issue was created or updated:

• Created from

• Created to

• Updated from

• Updated to

Click Apply to apply the filter.

Provides you to to apply such a possibilities:

8. Magnifier - click to search the required item you want to add to your data source.

9. Clear the search field

10. View options — tap to sort issues by their Names/IDs/Types.

11. Tabs with Jira Fields - displays a list of all Jira fields and tables you can export.

Note! The list of fields and items you can export is determined by your current Jira edition and add-ons.

12. Issues - one of the issue files subsection. Choose if you want to add all fields in a certain subsection.

13. Checkbox - check the box with the required field.

After editing a Connector you can choose one of the options, what to do with it:

14. Save- click to create a data source.

15. Preview - Click to check the source name/description/issue filters/export items.

17. Close - leave data source creating page. Changes you’ve made will not be saved.

When selecting Preview button(15) you will see all changes you’ve done in the pop-up window, so that you can make sure that all displayed changes are correct and no more changes are needed.

Preview ERD(16) shows you an Entity Relationship Diagram for the tables and fields selected in the connector.

1. In the SAP Analytics Cloud, click Datasets → click From a Data Source

2. In Create Dataset from OData Services dialog select Create New Connection

4. At the next step enter connection information:

1. Connection Name

2. Data Services URL - insert the copied Data Source link in step 1 

3. Leave Authentification Type as Basic Authentification

4. Enter your account email as a user name.

5. Enter the Access Token into a Password field

6. Click Create

5. Check Data Source name and click Next

6. In New Query for OData Services dialog type Query Name or select table and name will be created automatically

7. In Build OData Services Query select specific fields or the whole table and click Create

8. In Save Dataset dialogue, check Name, edit it if needed, change file location if needed and click Ok

9. Data is exported and ready to be analyzed

(1) Click the Copy icon to copy the connector URL to the clipboard.

(3) Click on the Settings button on the issue panel to select such Actions as:

(4) To make changes to the Connector, select Edit item.

(5) To remove Connector, press Delete option.

(6) To distribute the Data Source to users who have permissions to use this plugin, select the Share option. The users can find this data source in the Shared with me tab.

(7) To make a copy of the data source, choose Clone option.

(8) To transfer the ownership of the data source, click Change owner option.

An access token functions like a password, so each user is required to create it individually. Jira Administrator cannot create access tokens for other users for security reasons.

Now you need to create a data source for the data you want to transfer from your Jira Cloud to your SAP Analytics Cloud. You can do it by accessing the Date Source page inside the SAP Analytics Cloud Connector for Jira.

You have to name your data source, adjust sharing settings, and filter the tables you’d like to be in your data source.
